So Cute!

Look what Sweets helped me do tonight:

I will do more tomorrow maybe... I'm tired tonight.
I made us some green chile+ cheese tortilla burgers
for supper...they were good.

Bombs has the farts tonight - not only are they smelly,
they are loud as hell. ugh.

Check It Out -

My friend Lori came in with a Warhol - style
picture of her son Mathias and it looked so cool, I
INSTANTLY wanted one too! She said it was an option
on her camera's printer, so I had to tell Craig and
of course he had some options for me. 1.) Install the
software that came with our printer, the good old Brother 420,
with the hopes that the 'posterize' option
would be there. Or 2.) Check iphoto or Photoshop for
something like this. So yesterday, when Sweets was
helping me crop another photo, I spotted the 'posterize'
option! yay! Before I left for work this morning, I did this:

and I'm sure there will be more to come!

No Need to Cry...
"Lie in bed and ignore the TV
Watch the clouds sift through the aero
And you'll be in my arms again
There's no need to cry

Of all the things so bittersweet
You're the first thing I see in morning and in sleep
And you'll be in my arms again
There's no need to cry

Years have been lost but can never be replaced
But my thoughts are with you
Tied to that interstate
And you'll be in my arms tonight"

*'The Office' Marathon*

For those of you unfamiliar with The Office, one
of the best shows on tv, then tonight is your night!
NBC is running a marathon of this seasons episodes,
check them out if you can!

The Girls...

I'm super excited, I get to see 2 of my best
friends in May! I'm meeting Amanda in San Diego
where Rachael lives and I can't wait! Now, I have
known these gals since high school and we've all
done so much together. From Grateful Dead concerts,
to living together, to working together, to moving
away, getting married and having children, these
are the girls that I call my bestes friends! Steph
is also part of the 'Bud Chicks' - our "gang" in
high school - but she cannot come, she's having a
baby instead. She'll be with us in spirit while
we're all there... yes she will.

Here is Amanda and myself last year in New York @ her place:

This is Amanda + Rachael a few years ago in D.C. for A + E's wedding:

(thanks baby for helping me crop this pic!)

I have some really good pics of all 4 of us, so as soon
as I find those, they're going up. I think we all
have different hair colors in the older photos, so
it'll be interesting to see our style back in the
late 90's.

This is a song we used to love to listen to while cruising
in Sharona, Steph's Saturn. We were soooo tough!

"Gimme that, that, that nutt [3x]
Gimme that, Gimme that, Gimme that nutt"

(I just realized the lyrics to this song are so bad and
dirty, I feel bad and dirty posting them...)

Pugs and Shootin'...

We had a very busy weekend and I'm sorry it's over.

It started out with a play date @ the dog park with Bumbs.
It was supposed to be a Pug meet-up, but either the pugs
had to cancel due to weather or we were at the wrong park.
Whatever happened, we still had a great time. Angus had
never been to the dog park with us when we've taken Bombs
in the past, so I promised we'd go again. Here are a couple
of the photos we got-- Angus and I took them so I'm not sure
who took what, but these are the best ones:

After the park, Angus had a play date with his buddy Austin.
So after he was dropped off, Craig and I had some lunch and hit
Home Depot for some more house stuff. I love spending time
with Craig, trying to make our home better. We both agree, if
money wasn't an option we'd have the coolest house on Harvard Dr.

Saturday evening we had tacos for dinner made by yours truly.
They were "abuelita" style with potatoes and onions and they
were tasty.

On Sunday, after a yummy breakfast of french toast with Craig's
homemade bread, the 3 of us went shooting. Yes, shooting.
Craig taught me to fire a gun a few years ago when we worked
together, so I was not a complete stranger to shooting. The
guys had been out to the South Valley shooting before, but this
was our first family outing to the new Westside Shooting Range -
on Shooting Range Dr. Here are the pics we got:

We Planted Some Trees This Weekend-

Craig and I did.

The City of Albuquerque was giving them away for a great
cause, so we were pretty excited to take part. On Saturday
morning we got up around 9:30am and decided to take Bombay
with us. He was as happy as ever, hanging in the park with his folks.

This one is an Afghanistan Pine:

This is the New Mexico Olive:

That is the south side of our yard out back.

And this is a Desert Willow:

This is our front yard... we may need to do some yardwork.
But aren't they great?!

After we planted our new trees, we headed out to Garcia's for a yummy lunch.
I had cheese + onion enchiladas with red chile, beans and rice.

And Sweets had a carne adovada burrito with all beans.

He's such a beaner.

If I Could Escape...

today would be the day! Some days, especially during my period,
are just so hard to get through. I hate sounding like a baby, but
geesh... don't mess with me while I'm on my period, yo!

"If I could escape I would but, first of all, let me say:
I must apologize for acting stank and treating you this way.
'Cause I’ve been acting like sour milk all on the floor-
It’s your fault you didn’t shut the refrigerator
Maybe that’s the reason I’ve been acting so cold?

If I could escape and recreate a place that’s my own world-
And I could be your favorite girl , forever- perfectly together
Tell me boy now wouldn’t that be sweet?
If I could be sweet-
I know I’ve been a real bad girl,
I didn’t mean for you to get hurt, whatsoever - we can make it better.
Tell me boy now wouldn’t that be sweet? "

I'm Loving My Day Off...

Craig, Bumbs and I got to sleep in and it was nice.
We got up, had some coffee, did some cleaning up-
Baby worked on his bike. After doing a couple of loads
of laundry, I started on my March postcards for the
exchange I do. I made a little playlist while I was doing
all these things and it goes like this:

Pressed in a Book -The Shins
The Sweetest Escape -Gwen Stefani ft. Akon
Ms. Jackson - Outkast
High On Cruel -Neko Case & Her Boyfriends
There's Your Trouble - Dixie Chicks
Tonight The Bottle Let Me Down - Gram Parsons
La La Love You - Pixies
Not Ready To Make Nice - Dixie Chicks
Boyz In The Hood - Eazy E
Tear Stained Eye -Son Volt
Psycho - Elvis Costello & The Attractions
2 Kool 2 Be 4-Gotten - Lucinda Williams
Soul Rebel - Bob Marley

These are a few of the cards I made today:

Sweets is making us chicken fajitas for dinner tonight and
we'll probably watch 'The Departed' which looks really good.

More later... maybe.

Sun is Shining...

"Sun is shining, the weather is sweet,
Make you wanna move your dancing feet now.
To the rescue, here I am-
Want you to know, yall, can you understand?

When the mornin' gather the rainbow, yeah, yeah
Want you to know, I'm a rainbow too now.
To the rescue, here I am-
Want you to know, yall, can you, can you, can you understand?

Sun is shining, the weather is sweet now,
Make you wanna move your dancing feet.
But to the rescue, here I am-
Want you to know just if you can, here I stand, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.

Can you understand me now, baby?
Do you believe me?"

--Bob Marley

and this evening...

after work I have a few things to do:

1.) Pick up some groceries/products that we need
for our house. It shouldn't take too long...
(eggs, cereal, potatoes, onions, iced tea, dairy milk/
dishwasher detergent, garbage bags...)

2.) Head over to Johnson Field for a run... there's always people
out there doing stuff (soccer, rugby, laying around) and lots of
other runners, so I enjoy going there for the "people watching" too.

3.) Put some dinner together, possibly a delightful frozen creation from Trader Joe's that Sweets bought for us for nights we may not feel like cooking.

4.) Watch one of my fave shows-- I'm elated, 'The Office' is an entire hour tonight...WOO-HOO!

I am So Lucky

to have a partner like Craig. He is so thoughtful and sweet!
We've had our share of ups and major downs, but through
it all we have always been eachothers best friend and we know
eachother better than anyone. Anyhoo, he and Angus were
running some errands yesterday morning and came back with
a treat for me... I LOVE treats! He was there when my love for
Neko Case began and he knows how much I still adore her, so
he came home with this:

It's Neko's performance on 'Austin City Limits' and of course she
belts out all her classics and a few covers as well. He is such a
SWEET baby! I am looking forward to the show in April, I can't
hardly wait!

He and Angus also made us breakfast this morning
- blueberry pancakes! We also had scrambled eggs,
bacon and coffee. Today is such a beautiful day, Craig
has been outside all afternoon doing yardwork and getting
the garden in order. I've been doing some chores and listening
to music and Bombs also got an extra long walk as well. I
absolutely love this time of year when the days are so long
and so much can be done.

Tonight for dinner, Craig is roasting us a chicken and we'll
have tabouli salad with it. Sweets makes a mean tabouli. He
adds to the bulgar wheat: lemon, olive oil, parsley, tomatoe
and cucumber and it it sooo good! I've been known to get up
in the middle of the night for a spoonful of the stuff! It is good!

I Started a New Book

last night and so far it's great! Although this book
has been out for some time, it's unlike anything I've
come across so far...
check it out here.

So Tonight for Our DInner

I wanted pasta ("TIME TO 'CARB UP' FOR THE BIG GAME!"), but
something different from what we normally have. We like
lots of pasta with different bases like cream or marinara,
but I felt like something a little on the lighter side.
So, I was inspired by the salad Alison writes about
on her food blog, only I wanted do some variation with
pasta and of course the fabulous coppa we were given when
she and Ruby came to visit in February.

We had linguine with cherry tomatoes, garlic, basil and coppa tossed with
extra virgin olive oil and parmesan.

I also made this mixed green salad with DELICIOUS danish
blue cheese and red onions marinaded in balsamic vinegar.
Craig made these onions for a salad once and they were so
incredible, they're pretty much a staple when it comes to
salads around here. The onion/blue cheese combo
is pretty much heaven.

And last but not least, here is the monster we call 'Bumbs'...
or 'Precious Face' or 'Sagwa' or...

Mama's Got a Pair of New Shoes...

for running and they are cu-ute! I'm super excited
to break them in and have buns of steel!

***I missed the UPS guy, so I get my shoes tomorrow..

I am not digging work today... people are getting
on my every nerve. At least today is my "early day"
so I'll be out of here in about 2 hrs.

'America's Next Top Model' is on tonight so that makes
me happy... I'm fairly easy to make happy- most of the time.
***I was incorrect... this is on tomorrow night.

I'm in the mood for onion-y enchiladas, so Craig and I
will probably have an "early bird" dinner when I get home
since he's been studying so hard for mid-terms... he was
locked in his office last night, working up a storm, so this
might be the only chance to feed Sweets - nice and early.

***We had Padilla's and it made me oh- so happy!

Looking For Something To Do This Weekend?

GO SEE THIS MOVIE!

Black Snake Moan

Craig and I had a date this afternoon and we both
enjoyed this movie. The plot is so original and along
with the soundtrack, it made for a great film. Christina Ricci did
an amazing job as a nymhomanic with a sordid past and
Samuel L. did an unbelievable job as the down but not out
Farmer/Bluesman. If you are interested in seeing
something so original, go see this movie-- you will not be sorry.

When we got home, I took Bombs out for a W-A-L-K and
he was just as cute as can be. He 's always guarunteed to
'lay down his dukes', but it's always a surprise... today it
was by the Vietnemese Restaurant that will soon become
a Japanese place in March. Anyhoo, Bombs enjoyed his
walk so much, he came home and is currently napping.

Baby is studying hard for mid-terms next week, so I am
off to the store to pick up some stuff for dinner.

I'm Thrilled...

it's FRIDAY! I am sooo looking forward to hanging
out with my sweet baby tonight and possibly eating
ourselves into oblivion. For the most part, we like
to sit around and eat good stuff while talking about
how damn cute and smelly the pug is....
we love him so.

I think we will try to get some house stuff done tomorrow
as well, but we'll see. I'm excited to sleep in- as it's
been a long week. I'd also like to have some Saturday
morning breakfast at one of our local favorites... maybe
Loyola's, Perea's or Barela's... all of which are closed
Sundays.

I am counting the days til I get to see Neko, but til
then, her lyrics will have to do.

MOOD TO BURN BRIDGES...

"So many people live in my town
And mind to my business but none of their own
They're all so happy now that i've done wrong
I'm surprised they don't come up and thank me

So if you want moral advice
I suggest you just tuck it all away
'Cause my mood to burn bridges
Parallels my mood to dig ditches
Don't cross me on neither a day, baby

Don't make mistakes or be human
They savor your every false move
And the fear that they hide looking for a Break
If ever confronted with truth

So if you want moral advice
I suggest you just tuck it all away
'Cause my mood to burn bridges
Parallels my mood to dig ditches
Don't cross me on neither a day, baby

From the well of their hearts spring the poison
That mixed with suspicion and reckless derision
And something they read on a church toilet stall
They think that their lives are much better
Than mine on the soapbox and ladders stand tall

So if you want moral advice
I suggest you just tuck it all away
'Cause my mood to burn bridges
Parallels my mood to dig ditches
Don't cross me on neither a day

I see those arrows beside me
I hear you right behind me
Don't cross me on neither a day"
