Black + White Holga

Here are some shots from my 3rd roll of film... the 2nd
roll of film wasn't very good at all, so I didn't even
bother posting any.

I really like the vintage look of the black and white film...
I think the photo of Bombay is my favorite in this batch!

Say It Isn't So...

the end of the weekend, that is.

I had a great weekend of:
enchiladas with onions and egg, flea markets, apple-
eating schrader sightings, blueberry pancakes, pug
hold-yous, chicken and rice soup, aguas-frescas,
chicharrones and el modelo, chocolate cake, boys
fishing and me at the movies, polaroid cameras for
cheap, bladerunner on vhs and some grilled flank
steak in the rain... ok, sprinkles. but grilled.

still, it was a great weekend!

here are some photos... random ones.

A New Addiction

I know I'm behind on this one but,

my NEW new favorite show now is WEEDS.
Not only does Mary Louise Parker look smokin' hot...
her character, Nancy, is so likable and funny! There
are a number of other very likable characters like her
10 yr old son, Shane and her drug dealer, Heylia who likes
to tease Nancy and give her a hard time. Of course, there
are characters that are not so likable at first, like
Elizabeth Perkins' portrayal of Celia... the bitch.
And the jerky brother in law, Andy, that shows up
unannounced and gives Nancy grief about her 'business'.

We're only on the 1st season, so looking forward to the next!

I'll Put That Cigarette Out...

in your flippin' eye!

The idiot that sat next to me and
complained that my lotion "made him
unable to breathe" no longer sits next
to me and that makes me happy. I totally
understand that certain people have
issues with certain scents, but where
the hell do you get off asking me to
refrain from wearing said lotion so
you can breathe easier? It's not as if
it's the late 90's and I'm still rocking
the infamous stripper scent of vanilla or
anything like that. And how is it the smoke
from your 20 or so breaks a day doesn't seem
to bother you, funny that LOTION does...?

Damn idiot... mix in a facial for those pores!

FLASHBACK!!!

When I was a youngen, I was totally into all the 'hip' young
actors of my time... the 80's! If there was a movie with, say,
any of the Coreys, Emilio Estevez, Ralph Macchio (ew, i know)
or Charlie Sheen, I WAS ALL OVER IT!!!

And so I ask, does anyone remember THE WRAITH?

It was an incredibly cheesi-licious flick about a guy who
was killed and comes back for revenge as a bandit on a motorcycle...
it's horrible!

It'd be wrong of me to recommend this, but I had to at least give it
little shout- out!

Beautiful Film Week

Abby Try Again is having Beautiful Film Week over
at her blog and I'm a little late getting started, but the film
I choose is Away From Her. I wrote about this film a while
back, but I find it beautiful in so many ways, I decided to write
about it again.

Love is hard. Living with someone is also hard. I could not
imagine forgetting parts of my life that I share with my
lover years from now. That's what happens when Fiona starts
to slowly lose memories from her life with and without her
husband... because of Alzheimer's Disease. After much consideration,
Fiona thinks it best for her and her husband if she is institutionalized.
From there, you see a beautiful relationship put through the ringer and
the affect on both parties.

You'll probably cry buckets of tears if you watch this movie,
but you will also appreciate those in your life once you dry
your tears.

I Like Killing Flies

***this is not my 'Beautiful Film' pick...
please visit today's post for that!

is the documentary Craig and I watched last
night. It was really good and made me want to
go to NYC again... I can dream.

Check this out if you're interested in how
a small restaurant run by a tight family has
it's ups and downs. Also, it makes you hungry.

The Greatest

Once I wanted to be the greatest...
Two fists of solid rock.
With brains that could explain
Any feeling....

Lower me down,
Pin me in,
Secure the grounds....
For the lead
And the dregs of my bed
I've been sleepin'...
For the later parade.

I love Cat Power.

It's Plastic...**

My Holga shots are in!

Trust me, I know they are not perfect and/or beautiful
at fisrt sight, but this is my fisrt roll of actual film in
years! And, there is no focusing in on your subject
with a Holga.. it can typically focus in on something
up to 2-3 ft. tops. This, I learned by trial and error...
8 of the 12 shots came out and maybe 4 are actually
good. Anyhoo, I'm very excited to take as many photos
as I possibly can with my cool toy!

(and nevermind my cropping skillzzzz...)

**...and I tried to Rock It.

check out this site for more Holga goodness...
I will be contributing there soon!

my new favorite show

since we hooked up with the Netflix is Dexter.
I'm totally digging Michael C. Hall's character
and I love, love, love his sisters character, Deb.
She reminds me a little of myself - aside from the
fact that she's a cop. And super thin. Check it out
should you get the chance.

New Year, happy happy!

I, like almost everyone else, want to have a great
upcoming year. There are things about myself that
I am happy with. And, of course, there are things
that I'd like to work on changing. I think a lot of
people feel the new year can and will bring many
good things and possibly changes, so I'm striving
to have a fabulous new year!
