the Southern Thing

So I found out yesterday that our good old
pals, Drive-By Truckers will be making a stop
in Santa Fe in June and Craig and I will be there
to listen to some tunes! I love me some Truckers!

"Ain't about my pistol
Ain't about my boots
Ain't about no northern drives
Ain't about my southern roots
Ain't about my guitars, ain't about my big old amps
"It ain't rained in weeks, but the weather sure feels damp"
Ain't about excuses or alibis
Ain't about no cotton fields or cotton picking lies
Ain't about the races, the crying shame
To the fucking rich man all poor people look the same

Don't get me wrong It just ain't right
May not look strong, but I ain't afraid to fight
If you want to live another day
Stay out the way of the southern thing..."

Sundays on Central

Today after Angus's soccer game we
headed over to Loyola's on Central...

for some delicious breakfast.

It's also near the Desert Sands Motel...

also seen in No Country For Old Men as the motel
in El Paso... I was hoping that I'd find Javier Bardem
behind this door:

No such luck.

Lovely Friday

I had today off and it was nice. Craig made us
some french toast with grade A dark amber
maple syrup (so yum!), bacon and eggs. After
that, I organized my new little work area and
I'm tickled! Here's what the space looked like before:

I'll have the entire space once Craig's seedlings
are ready to go into the ground, but for now this
works just perfectly. Here's what it looks like now:

The room needs a colorful coat of paint, but
that'll come later... one step at a time for this gal.

I'm Gonna Make You A Mix Tape... You Like Phil Collins?

Last night Craig and I watched about 4 hours of
one of our favorite shows, 30 Rock and we laughed
our asses off! It's hard to decide which character I like
best, but for nown I'm definitely choosing Liz Lemon...
and Kenneth.

This evening I'm hanging out with the girls...Amanda
and Erica, and probably some other gals. Not sure
what we're going to do, but I can' wait to catch up!

I'm also very excited because Craig is going to help
me clear out the area of our house, the sun room, so
I can have a spot to do crafty things I like so much...
I hope to do something like this. It's an open area by
our kitchen on the way to the back yard so it's not
secluded, but it has great lighting and I can look
outside while I'm getting my craftiness on. Word.

Random TtV Photos

I've been playing around again, here's what I got:

more to come later...

Just Back Butterin' pt.2

So, I mentioned before we were re-doing the re-do of
the bathroom
and guess what? We're finally done
and it looks great! A crippled (ow!) arm and a year later ...
we. is. done. Check it:

You see that fancy tile work? um hum, done by yours truly.
Not too shabby for a first timer.

Happy Earth Day!

I won't get all preachy, but read this for some ideas
on how to save energy and help our Earth's health!

TtV Photos...

aka~ Through the Viewfinder Photography
and it's my latest obsession. After visiting
(stalking, whatevs...) one of my favorite
artsy/crafty/all around awesome blogs,
Hula Seventy I really wanted to learn
how to get these great images. Well, thanks
to Andrea (great name, I know.) @ HulaSeventy
for sending me a lovely email and a link
to help me get started... take a look at
a couple of test shots:

I used the digital camera, the Holga and
also a Polaroid camera to shoot these.

I'll post more photos later once I get a
little better! Try it out, it's lotsa fun!

It's Probably A Food Baby... Did You Have A Big Lunch?

Yes, I watched Juno last night. Twice. And I love it.

Each character is so genuine and real, it was a movie that I am
recommending to anyone and everyone. And, during the saddest
scene, Cat Power is singing a lovely tune that'll be sure to open
the flood gates. Well, for me anyway. Check it out asap!

Celebrity Doppleganger?

Do you have one?
People have said that if I
did, it'd be Jennifer Tilly.

Great. I made the C/D list.

We both have great boobs
and dark hair and slanty eyes.
I can kind of see it... here are
some cheesy comparisons:

Now you have a turn.

If You're Driving in Your Car and You Can't Get Very Far...

you know the rest... Fiahreea! fire, ow.
Anyhow, I made the hottest Green Chile Stew that there
ever was yesterday and my belly is on fire today... TMI?
sorry. But, thanks to my mom for the hotness. And, Lyd,
it was sooo hot, you would've loved it!

I made the yummiest dessert last night, this, and
it rocked.

The other night we saw Into the Wild and you
should see it too. Not only is it very compelling, but
the main character is played by Emile Hirsch, a
favorite of mine. Please watch this movie.

This evening is the return of some favorites, 30 Rock
and of course, the Office... WOO-HOO!

Pam is the best!

Right now, I am starving.

Chicken-Heads of the World ~ UNITE!

Here are some sweet chicken shots that I'm
awfully proud of. Craig was chicken-sitting
for a friend, so I decided to help him feed
the girls. My favorite one is the blackie...
I think she's a vixen like myself.

Pizza Poppers, Shrimp Shooters and Extreme Fajitas

Yes, it's Monday and I'm not at Chotchkie's, but
I kinda wish I was...

Anyhow, Happy Monday to all yous!!!

You Wish

you had my beans.
and my cheeseburger.

Ryan Adams...

is awfully good at breaking my heart over and over again...
in the best way possible of course, by singing to me.

Check out Austin City Limits this evening for a
fantastic performance by Mr. Adams himself. It's a
re-reun, but a damn good one.

FRIDAY... i love you.

Crazy busy week, yes it's been insane.

Craig and I had some delicious El Patio for
our dinner last night. We early bird-ed it and
it was sooo good. I had the combo which consists
of enchiladas. 1 relleno and 1 taco, beans + rice.
Craig had huevos rancheros for dinner and we
both left very full and happy. Later, we watched
(for the 3rd time!) American Gangster and loved
it... again. We were also going to watch another
film, I Am Trying to Break Your Heart: a film
about Wilco
, but we were too sleepy after having
a snack of muffalettas, balsamic vinegar chips, a
(LARGE) cinnamon roll and all that lying around is
pretty draining too. Anyhoo, we slept like some lil'
piggies, all comfy and fat and shit.

Anyhow, work is insanely busy, I should get back to
it, but I'll leave you with another Holga shot:

This One's For The Children...

is a song from New Kids On The Block's Christmas Album...
from the 80's. I'm sure all you ex-lovers of NKOTB have heard
the hiARious news that our favorite Bean-Towners are making
their comeback... lovin' it! As an awkward mid-schooler, (horrible
photos coming soon!) I loved me some New Kids. I was sure I was
going to marry Donnie Wahlberg one day... I just knew it.

Anyhow, needless to say, that didn't pan out, so I'll just
Hang Tough for the next few days and wait to see
if they are as awesomely bad as before!

** Who was your favorite New Kid?
