Crimewave

is a funny ass movie (from the 80's!) that
I loved as a {cute and awkward-- my mom said
my perm made me look like Tiny Tim} mid-schooler.

I was recently looking for it and was thrilled
to find out it was written by Sam Raimi and everyone's
favorite brotherly duo, Joel and Ethan Coen...
the GENIUSES behind one of the greatest movies ever made.

anyhoo, if you feel like watching some slap-stick
hilarious-ness from the 80's, please check this
little gem out... you just might like it.

Currently Reading

the Nasty Bits by badass Tony Bourdain
from our local cool ass library because my
sweet lover thought of me when he and the
boy visited recently.

on fast food:

"Next time you find yourself slack-jawed and
hungry in front of a fast-food counter- and a
clown is anywhere nearby- just turn on your
heels and head for the lone-wolf, independant
operator down the street: a pie shop, a chippie,
a kebab joint, or in New York, "a dirty-water hot dog",
anywhere that the proprieter has a name...

In Mexico, one is likely to find happy swarms of
people slurping posole, a sort of soupy stew, or
menudo, a similarily delicious concoction, around
primitive carts right out in the street, electric power
provided by a chugging gas generator. A few pesos
and a few seconds and you're eating better than any
place run by evil clowns or steroid-overdosed action
movie front men."

Soul Rebel

This lovely tune was on the playlist
while I was making my baby some dinner
last night...and he totally loved my
cooking outfit! And my fried chicken
also kicked ass!

I'm a rebel, soul rebel
I'm a capturer, soul adventurer
I'm a rebel, soul rebel
I'm a capturer, soul adventurer

See the morning sun, the morning sun
On the hillside
If you're not living good, travel wide
You gotta travel wide
Said I'm a living man
And I've got work to do
If you're not happy, children
Then you must be blue
Must be blue, people say

I'm a rebel, let them talk,
Soul rebel, talk won't bother me
I'm a capturer, that'w what they say
Soul adventurer, night and day
I'm a rebel, soul rebel
Do you hear them lippy
I'm a capturer, gossip around the corner
Soul adventurer. How they adventure on me

But, see the morning sun, the morning sun
On the hillside
If you're not living good, travel wide
You gotta travel wide
Said I'm a living man
I've got work to do
If you're not happy, then you must be blue
Must be blue, people say

I'm a rebel, soul rebel
I'm a capturer, soul adventurer
Do you hear me
I'm a rebel, rebel in the morning
Soul rebel, rebel at midday time

Beautiful Book Week

is a project that I came across @ Hula Seventy's blog,
but the idea is from abby try again, another deliciously
creative blog. Anyhoo, the idea is to post images
and passages from books you consider beautiful...

I'm all over it.

here's a beautiful favorite of mine:

"I wasn't born and raised to be a Kyoto geisha.
I wasn't even born in Kyoto. I'm a fisherman's
daughter from a little town called Yoroido on
the Sea of Japan. All my life I've never told more
than a handful of people anything at all about
Yoroido, or about the house in which I grew up,
or about my mother and father, or my older sister-
and certainly not about how I became a geisha,
or what it was like to be one."

Check Out

these cute coasters I made this weekend...

and my leaf display... very 70's @ grandma's.

cute, huh?
I have a ton of ideas for more coasters...
stay tuned.

What's For Dinner?

Tonight I'm making some fried-ass chicken...
mashers w/ lots of butter + cream gravy
and green beans w/ bacon + onions.

I may even wear denim daisy dukes, a pearl
button shirt tied in a knot at the waist and
pig tails... maybe. You know, get into the
whole Southern thing - thang.

What's on your menu for this evening?

HOPE

How can you say. "You torture me", when
you're already thinking about someone else.
When he comes home you'll be in his arm
and I'll be gone. But I know my day will come,
I know someday I'll be the only one.

So now you wait for a spark, you know it
will turn you on.He's gonna make you feel
the way you want to feel. When he starts to lie,
when he makes you cry you'll know I'll
be there. My day will come, I know someday
I'll be the only one.

Call me selfish, call it what you'd like
I think it's right. To want someone for all
your own and not to share their love.
But I'll have my way. You don't stand a
chance anyway. Cause I got to you...
you don't stand a chance.

So now you wait for his spark, you know it
will turn you on. He's gonna make you feel the
way you want to feel. When he starts to lie, when
he makes you cry you'll know I'll be there.
My day will come, I know someday I'll be the
only one. My day will come, I know someday
I'll be the only one.

You say you want perfection, I feel your
self-destruction. You don't know what you want,
it's gonna take you years to find out. I am not
giving up. And when you've had enough, you'll
take your bruised little head and you'll come
running back to me -
I know that I will be the only one.

~Descendants or Sublime version, you decide.

Bust-ed

Sweets is just so nice to get me a subscription to Bust Magazine...
not to be confused with JUGGS Magazine.

MORE

**in an East Coast-y accent**

"Where are my More cigarettes? Honey,
can you run out to the Price Right and
get me a few cartons of More cigarettes?"

The 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre' Series:

after messing around with Photoshop last night,
this is what I came up with... very backwoods, inbred
killers, don't go in that house - hence the title.

R.K. Sloan

Last night we went to a memorial art show for
a friend of Craig's that passed away last year,
R.K. Sloan, over at the neighborhood tattoo shop.
We rode over on the Lambretta and came back
and had homemade chicken soup, cranberry
oatmeal crispies and a lot of pug cuddling.

i just LOVE the water on this one... amazing.

Wha? Whooo?

Random

Pugtoberfest 2007

Bombay was a Jedi this year... he pissed on his costume
before I was able to get a decent shot of him, so once that
dries, I 'll put it back on him and snap some photos.

We did, however. get to take a ton of pics of all the pugs
at the pug party and THEY. WERE. ADORABLE.
