Julie & Julia
As someone who enjoys cooking and learning about
food and of course eating, I was thrilled to see two
great actresses in a great movie.
We've all seen Julia Child cooking shows growing up,
but it was really nice to "see" her in her earlier years,
the relationship she shared with her husband and her
naughty sense of humor that I had no idea she had.
The movie introduced me to the blog, the Julie/Julia Project
the inspiration for the movie... and it's some good, fun
reading!
and oh yeah, I want this.

the Road
is the book I'm currently
reading and it's amazing.
I've been getting through it
as quickly as possible... I
NEED to know how it ends.
The movie version is coming out
soon... I think it's going to be good...
in the sense of casting. Alright, alright ~
I like Viggo Mortenson... who doesn't?

the changing of leaves...
the way night-time creeps up on us WAY early...
the endless amount of movie watching...
the fact that it's snuggie weather...
AAAND, it's almost time for thanksgiving!
i love thanksgiving because i get to cook for
myself and the boys... and they tell me how
delicious everything is and they clean up for
me while i nap... ahhh, looking forward to it!

Blast From the Past!
morning, all I could think of was of being young and
starting schoolwhen the weather was changing from
summer to fall. I can remember waking up early
(I had to "do" my hair) and loving the crispness of
the morning and wondering how the day would turn
out. Depending on how much time I had left before I
needed to catch the bus, I'd do things like dance and
sing along Debbie Gibson or practice my gymnastics.
sing along Debbie Gibson or practice my gymnastics.
Random. But good memories.
Here's a little list of favorite movies from back in the day:
1. Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
2. Teen Witch
3. Dream a Little Dream OR anything with
the Coreys in it.
4. Can't Buy Me Love
5. Troop Beverly Hills
I really could list 1,000 more cheesey flicks...
but I won't. This is enough thought provoking
blogging for one day, yes?

Fair Day!
Woo-hoo, we're going to the State Fair this weekend!
What does that entail? A little of this:
1. People watching... out-of-town visitors,carnies,
teenagers making out (ewww!).
2. Chile Relleno Dogs. (Exactly what they sound like:
a green chile stuffed with cheese and a hotdog(!!!), battered
and fried, smothered in green chile.)
3. Aguas Frescas. I love to mix flavors.
4. Roasted Corn with lots of butter, s+p, lemon and cayenne
pepper.
5. Warm, sweet pecans!
6. Livestock and exhibits... sooo many cool, cute, weird items
to enjoy!
(and yes, I probably can eat everything mentioned!)

Chocolate Stout Cakez...
I made this incredibly delicious cake this weekend... I have
to say it's the best dessert I've ever made. I mean EVER.
The photo does not do the cake justice, but I just wanted to
share a little bit of it's AWESOMENESS with you!

Yay! I was super excited when this arrived at our house
yesterday afternoon... all for me!
I guess I've been a good girl because my Sweets
bought this awesome KitchenAid Stand Mixer for
me! And I thought I was having a hard time keeping
the pounds off before... imagine now!

Right On, it's finally fixed!
We finally got our sewing machine serviced
and it's working... woo-hoo! Picking it up in
a few hours, stay tuned for 1st time projects**
such as: APRONS, APRONS, APRONS!
And maybe some totes, too!
**NOT sure about pegged pants, though.

Hello!
I had some time off last week... it was so nice to
sleep in and basically do whatever I wanted. We
originally planned to visit White Sands, but decided
to postpone the trip til it gets a little cooler in N.M.
We have spent a number of hours in the car for the
month of August, first up to Cortez, Co. for a memorial
for Craig's grandfather, then up to the Jemez for
some camping and scooter festivities. It was, of course,
debaucherous, but we all made it out alive. I won a
helmet in the raffle, amoung other goodies.
My best girl Amanda was in town last week, so it was
a blast catching up and laughing our asses off...having
a great time! I can ALWAYS count on her for that!
Another fun event? Buying and roasting a 30lb. bag
of Hatch Green Chile... the smell is one of the best
smells anyone could wish for! Serio.
Needless to say, we enjoyed peeling and bagging and tasting
the chile as it was roasted. We also made Chile Rellenos and they were GOOD!
That is all for now... stay tuned.

Funny People
Last night was date night and we decided
to go old school...to the movies to see
Funny People. Although it was indeed funny,
there are some serious undertones that deal
with love, death, infidelity, and friendship.
Anyone who enjoys Judd Apatow + his crew
will definitely enjoy this film as well.
