is the book I'm currently
reading and it's amazing.
I've been getting through it
as quickly as possible... I
NEED to know how it ends.
The movie version is coming out
soon... I think it's going to be good...
in the sense of casting. Alright, alright ~
I like Viggo Mortenson... who doesn't?

ah, Sookie Sookie!
thanks to Mint Julep who mentioned True Blood
on her blog, I now have another obsession.
Who would've thought?
Also thinking of starting the
Sookie Stackhouse series, but
I've been lazy to do anything
(as previously stated) that
requires thought or movement.
We'll see.

Currently Reading
the Nasty Bits by badass Tony Bourdain
from our local cool ass library because my
sweet lover thought of me when he and the
boy visited recently.
on fast food:
"Next time you find yourself slack-jawed and
hungry in front of a fast-food counter- and a
clown is anywhere nearby- just turn on your
heels and head for the lone-wolf, independant
operator down the street: a pie shop, a chippie,
a kebab joint, or in New York, "a dirty-water hot dog",
anywhere that the proprieter has a name...
In Mexico, one is likely to find happy swarms of
people slurping posole, a sort of soupy stew, or
menudo, a similarily delicious concoction, around
primitive carts right out in the street, electric power
provided by a chugging gas generator. A few pesos
and a few seconds and you're eating better than any
place run by evil clowns or steroid-overdosed action
movie front men."

Beautiful Book Week
is a project that I came across @ Hula Seventy's blog,
but the idea is from abby try again, another deliciously
creative blog. Anyhoo, the idea is to post images
and passages from books you consider beautiful...
I'm all over it.
here's a beautiful favorite of mine:

"I wasn't born and raised to be a Kyoto geisha.
I wasn't even born in Kyoto. I'm a fisherman's
daughter from a little town called Yoroido on
the Sea of Japan. All my life I've never told more
than a handful of people anything at all about
Yoroido, or about the house in which I grew up,
or about my mother and father, or my older sister-
and certainly not about how I became a geisha,
or what it was like to be one."

New Reads
I love Anthony Bourdain...then again, who doesn't?
I was given Kitchen Confidential
and A Cook's Tour by my lover
just yesterday and I am already half
way through Kitchen...
and I honestly don't want to finish it -
it's so damn funny and entertaining!
I love his way of writing, so descriptive
and hilarious, a lot of times even raunchy,
but very heartfelt and always honest.
Pick any of these up if you get a chance!
After these, I really want to read The Nasty Bits as
I cannot get enough of Tony and his fabulous writing.
“Oh my God, that was a religious experience ...
In the words of Homer Simpson, the pig is a magical animal.”
~Anthony Bourdain

Bridge to Terabithia
Craig, Angus and I picked up this movie last night after
our bike ride and I was extremely happy with it. I had no
idea that it would be such a tearjerker - I thought it was
purely a kiddie movie... not at all, surprisingly.
Oh, and the little sister, Mae Belle, I LOVED her! She
reminded me of my niece, Julianna. We call her 'Jules'.

Currently Reading

My friend Derek from Ireland sent
me this book, signed to me by the
author, about a month ago. He's a
really nice guy who works in his
familys Sweet Shop and we exchange
postcards monthly, although his
packages are always better - he's
sent us candy from the shop and
pics of his cat, Cujo.
Anyhow, I've been thumbing thru it, only because
I've been so busy and lazy, but I really got into last
night before bedtime. It's different from most books
I read, but I already like it and maybe you will too!
Another friend, Shana, was also given the book and
she and her husband recently went to a signing and
met John Connolly. He apparently was very friendly
and he rememberd Derek, when Shana brought him
up. I thought that was very cool.
Check this book out if you want something new and
exciting to read!
