Ash from Army of Darkness... or is it?

Angus was Ash   from Army of Darkness for Halloween
this year... he made his decision early on and executed
it like a champ! Here are some pics of his obscure but
awesome choice of costume:

and if you're curious, this is the REAL Ash:

It's Getting Better All The Time...

yes, things are starting to get a bit better/easier on
my side. thanks sooo much to the people who've
helped me see things a little clearer... all we can do
is take responsibility for ourselves, right? that's what
i intend to do.

a few things that are making my days bearable are:

1. Beading with my adorable 8 yr old niece, Jules.

2. The best older sister in. the . world. Seriously.

3. Cable television... little things REALLY do make
me happy. Travel, E!, Food Network, amc, bravo~ thanks!

4. Being asked to hang a photo at a bar/gallery down-
town for a small show at the end of August. Wow, me?

5. Corresponding with genuinely nice people on the
internets who can relate to me and my situation.

6. Having my best friend and 2 other great friends in
town and having a girls night away from "the city".

7. Jumping on a huge trampoline and excited I can
still do all the cheerleader jumps I did in school. Nice.

Wednesday...ho hum.

Gosh, I feel like it's been forever since I've
gotten my blog on.

I did have a great weekend though.

Saturday after breakfast at Mary + Tito's we watched
a few episodes of John Adams and frickin' loved it! It
was so awesome to see parts of history that we all read
about portrayed on the telly. And Abigail Adams? She
seemed like one smart and supportive lady/wife/mama.
Loved her.

We also watched more of the Wire and I'm
looking forward to more this evening... yay!
I'm hooked. Big time.

The 3 of us went out on Sunday and watched one the
best movies I've seen in a long time, the Dark Knight.
I didn't get up to pee once.... that's how amazing it was.
And the boys aren't bad to look at either. Not bad at all.
Go see it. Now.

OH! We also got to see the trailer for Watchmen
and my sweet lover nearly lost his shit. He can't wait!

Not a lot on Monday... had some cheeseburgers
for dinner. I love cheeseburger night!

Same for Tuesday, it was bleh.

Today I listened and sang along to Elvis Costello while
driving to trabajo. I had a peanut butter sandwich on
wheat and a delicious banana for breakfast. I really feel
like having a mountain of nachos for lunch, but, alas, they
are too messy to eat at my desk. Maybe for dinner if I'm
a good girl?

Now I'm here at work perusing my fave guilty pleasure
sites like this one and laughing my ass off. Check it out.

I'm also getting inspired by How About Orange and a
lot of the cute and crafty items she makes. Super fun!

I really should be working...

f-u monday.

i hate feeling as if my voice doesn't count.

my mom is recovering from a major surgery and
i wish i could do more for her than pick up a
fucking prescription. she's trying to be strong,
but i can hear otherwise when i talk with her.

i need to give myself more credit at times...
i am human and i will make mistakes. guaranteed.

tuesday rundown

hi there. it's been a week, A WHOLE WEEK, since
my last post. i've been lazy. and busy. and lazy.
that's a pic of me in case you forgot what i look like.

i did, however, have a really great 4th of july weekend
with my favorite guy. i love me some 3-day holiday
weekends...who doesn't? tell me so i can punch you.

on thursday we had a delightful dinner over at the world
famous (ok, south valley famous) monte carlo steakhouse
and it was awesome as always. i love walking into the
dark room with kitchy decor and drunken construction
workers enjoying a cold one at the bar. i also like how
they will stare me up and down like a piece of meat, even
though i'm CLEARLY with a handsome fella. it's okay,
craig doesn't mind... he knows i'm hot stuff.

on friday we had lunch at los cuates (don't even get me
started) and vowed not to go there for another year
or so. aside from their salty chips and sweet salsa,
it's nothing to write home about. since we were near
the sunflower market we stopped in and got some
fixings for a bbq over at our friend steve's place. it
was very mellow but a good time.

on saturday, we finished working on the chicken coop...
we had to add some netting to protect the girls from
predators. and we also added more poultry fencing as
the little brats (isotope and hazel) kept trying to
escape into bombay's yard. not a good idea for them
seeing as how bombs wants them BAD. anyhow, we
finished. thank god. then i was lucky enough to get
a ride with this guy on this:
that evening we watched a favorite around our
place lately, the wire. i love it. so does craig.

on sunday after angus was dropped off, the 3 of
us got in tamales and drove over yonder to the
corrales farmer's market and got 3 more chicks!
they are adorable and unique in their own way.
i will post some pics of them later, but the newest
members of the blanragg familia are (so cute!):

connie jr. the cuckoo maran.

blinky the ameraucana with green feet.

raquel the rhode island red.

very exciting...very!
here's isotope and hazel... they're growing fast!

and here's most of them chillin'...

and in honor of our new girls, i made us a yummy
ass brick chicken for dinner and we had some
greens from the garden with mashers...oh yeah.
craig (and angus too) desire the brick chicken
at least once a week, and although i love me
some crispy skin, it's a pain to make sometimes.
craig, though, is nice enough to cut the backbone
for me, i have issues with gagging if i think about
something too much, ie. raw chicken. he's just
so awesome like that.

last night we watched cloverfield... can you say
in-FUCKING-tense? i wasn't sure i'd like it, but it
was very entertaining and kept us on the edge of our
seats! i'd probably see it again... we'll see.

that's about it as far as my thrilling weekend goes.

what'd you do? was it soooo fun? or just bleh?

Weekend Recap

" Hi everybody!"

Hope everyone had a nice weekend... I did.

Craig and I had dinner at Patio's on Friday
evening... enchiladas w/ beef and onion for
me. huevos rancheros for Sweets. We sat on
the patio and enjoyed the cool evening air
and we saw the judge from the Wire... I was
going to take a pic 'cause I don't give a f*%k,
but Craig was having none of it. Next time.

*

On Saturday, the 2 of us slept in and then
headed outside to paint the chicken coop.
We were both hot and grumpy, but after a
little flirting and flashing of body parts, we
we're just fine. I'll post some pics of the coop
and the girls soon. They're doing really well
and they seem to like their new home, that makes
us all very happy. The only family member
who doesn't care for his new sisters is Bombay.

He just can't help himself. When he gets around
the chicks, first off he has to be held, and secondly
he shakes and tries to get free while making
his "i'm gonna get you" grunts. No matter how
many times we tell him he'll always be our favorite
baby, he still tries to get him some chickens.

*

Sunday, Craig, Angus and I had breakfast at
Loyola's (so delish as always!), then headed
back home. With the heat and all the food we
had, the 4 of us had to lay down in the family
bed and rest a little. "Rest" with all 4 of us
usually consists of us holding Bombs and telling
him how sweet and precious he is. I know.

Later, Angus and I drove over to the westside to
meet up with my sister, nieces and nephew for
some swimming. Why the westside for swimming?
The pool we like to go to is the only outdoor pool
that we know of w/ a diving board. Also, Craig
used to take tennis lessons there w/ his bro back
in the day. Cu-ute! Then we watched a classic~
National Lampoon's Vacation as a family. And
we laughed. A lot. We've been trying to introduce
Angus to all sorts of 80's classics. He seems to enjoy
them, after the intial "80's? Yuck!" factor.

*Today is alright... hot as hell outside. I think
I'll head over to Sonic and get a cherry limeade
and enjoy the summertime indoors for the next few
hours.

meet the girls...

we got our chicks this weekend
and they are so adorable...

here they are:
welcome home!
left to right: isotope, hazel & huevolina...

hazel is the one with some brown on
her little feathers and she's a langshan.
isotope and huevolina (lina) are jersey giants.
craig, angus and i are still learning about our
chickens, so i'll post more info as we learn!

my daddy's in a coma!

my day has been great.

it started off with a cute
pug taking over my pillow
this morning... he loves it.

we got to sleep in a little on
account of all the hard work that
it takes to build a chicken coop.
yes! we're getting chickens and craig
has been working so hard on building
their chateau. i helped a little bit
yesterday, you know with the heavy
lifting because i'm strong as a man.
really, i am.

then, after a little *sexy time*
with my #1 guy, we had el modelo.
yes, that's the 2nd time in 2 weeks
and it kicked major asses once again.
and it's so much fun driving down to
that part of town... so many crazies.

craig and i also watched strangers with candy
this afternoon... hilarious as always. amy
sedaris is fabulously insane. love her.

tonight for dinner we're (craig) is grilling up
some steaks and we're going to watch game 2 of
the b-ball game... i like sweaty guys running
around and cursing. should be fun.

happy sunday evening, kids.

ahhh, mondays.

usually, i hate me some mondays.

today, however, is not so bad. i had
a few days off last week to prepare
for the arts + crafts show i was a part
of this weekend. it was a blast, btw, and
i met a ton of awesome folk, craig & angus
were sweet and brought me lunch and
i sold a (tree) painting, a collage on canvas
with paint, some photos + cards and some
other stuff which made me happy! all in all
it was really fun, looking forward to doing
it again sometime!

yesterday was a nice and relaxing day at home
with the boys, we didn't do a whole lot but cook.
we made a DELICIOUS pot of beans ( i swear, i
love beans more every day!), corn bread (i made it
for the 1st time and it was yummy! craig usually is
the one who makes it), collard greens w/ bacon+onion,
homemade mac+cheese(frozen from last time, but still
homemade) and some fried-ass chicken. Damn, that
was some good chicken.

anyhoo, back to mondays... or today, really. it's
going by a little slowly, but looking forward to
this evening... the boys and i are going to a game
@ isotopes park, and we're riding our bikes ~ our
gang, the crusty jugglers will rule the streets, so beware!
too bad sagwah can't go... he'll be so sad.

anyhow, going to take a break w/ lori and walk
around the school and talk about the shenanigans
i missed friday night at a work party... good times.

i'm a lucky gal...

i get to spend my evening with these guys:

and while we were having a tasty chicharrone snack
in the yard this afternoon, we noticed bombay REALLY
likes fried porkness... surprising? i think not. he
has good taste~ he knows el modelo rocks this mutha.

oh, and is this good luck?:

or is it only if a bird shits on your head?
i forget.

and in case you can't tell, my bird had mulberries for lunch.

I love long weekends...

and i love sleeping in.

we've been taking it easy
this weekend... not a lot
going on and that's how i
like it.

yesterday i made bbq pork
sandwiches and potato salad
for dinner, chocolate cake
for dessert. craig worked on
a house project most of the
day, so in the evening we
watched a movie, Before the
Devil Knows You're Dead
. It
was really good and I totally
like Phillip Seymour Hoffman,
but I don't like seeing him do the
*sexy times*... which he does in
the movie. Other than that, it was
very entertaining.

this morning, we puttered around
the house and had coffee and toast
and had trouble deciding on future
band names. The contenders were:
War Victim or Wounded Soldier.
In the end, War Victim won because
we decided that it was "sicker" than
Wounded Soldier. And Wounded
Soldier
sounds too much like a christian
rock band. Or something.

Later we plan on walking the pug and
then taking a romantic bicycle ride thru
our neighborhood. And french fries and
gravy was also a topic of conversation...
that should be good and fun.

Damn, It Feels Good To Be A Gangsta

~Geto Boys

Whew. I sure am happy it's the weekend!

Craig and I are having a loverly little
date night this evening and I'm so looking
forward to it. Not sure what we're doing,
don't really care, just excited to spend
an entire evening together! Naughtiness
is inevitable.

Tomorrow we are going to a mantanza at a
friend of Craig's and we're both really excited!
I've been to luau's before so I know they're
very similar, just super happy to be going to
a party designated to eating a slaughtered pig!
I'll be sure to post some pics if possible!

Just Back Butterin' pt.2

So, I mentioned before we were re-doing the re-do of
the bathroom
and guess what? We're finally done
and it looks great! A crippled (ow!) arm and a year later ...
we. is. done. Check it:

You see that fancy tile work? um hum, done by yours truly.
Not too shabby for a first timer.

Pug In Pants

get ready to die... these are too cute.

Bombay actually liked his pants... and for $1.48,
I HAD to do it.

It's Me Again.

Who would've thought I like talking about myself so much?
Oh, yeah, this blog is about ME! ME! ME! and mi vida.

The Sweetness in my life has been working so hard
in the yard, what with like 50 gardens and what not.
I love watching him work, he is so excited and devoted
to growing us delicious goodies like this:

I help a little when I can, but there's no denying,
he does all the grunt work. Love you baby!

On Saturday, we made some more cinnamon rolls and
I've been stuffing my face with them...
I. can't. help. myself.

Oh, yeah... have you seen 30 Days of Night?
It's pretty entertaining if you're into blood sucking,
crazy screeching vampiros. But, be prepared... Our hero
dies (burns, whatever...) in the end and it's sad!

Wednesday I'm meeting with some gals from Duke City Fix to
talk crafts and a possible craft show... looking forward to
that! I have all sorts of ideas and it'll be great discussing
things like glitter and coasters and knitting and art... things
that Craig is sweet enough to pretend to care about. Any ABQer's
free @ 6p, head over to N'tl Atomic Museum and join us!

It's my turn to cook dinner tonight, what should I make?
